WHAT WE BELIEVE

God – We believe that there is one God who exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4-5; Matthew 28:18-19; Mark 12:29; 2 Corinthians 13:14).

God the Father – We believe that the Father is the creator of the universe and is the only supreme authority and source of all life (Genesis 1; Deuteronomy 6:4-5; Matthew 4:10).

God the Son – We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, was born of a virgin, was wholly God and wholly man, lived a sinless life, died in our place as a sacrifice for the sins of humanity, was buried, arose bodily from the grave, ascended into Heaven, and will return to judge and rule (Matthew 1:18-25; John 1:1; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Revelation 19:11-16).

God the Holy Spirit – We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment. We believe that He inhabits, guides, comforts, equips, and seals the follower of Jesus (John 16:7-16; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12–14; Ephesians 1:13-14).

Bible – We believe that the very words of all sixty-six books of the Bible are the Word of God without any error, the sole authority for life and faith (Romans 15:4; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21).

Humanity – We believe that humanity is a special creation of God, made in His image, but that through the sin of the first man, Adam, humanity fell so that all people of all time are sinners and in need of salvation (Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 5:12).

Eternity – We believe that those persons who die in their sins without Christ spend eternity in Hell and those persons who die with their sins forgiven through Christ spend eternity in Heaven (Matthew 25:46; Revelation 20:11-15).

Salvation – We believe that salvation is the forgiveness of sins and freedom from its control. It is a free gift provided by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone (Acts 4:12; Romans 5:12-6:23; Ephesians 2:8-10).

Assurance – We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ forever (John 10:28; Romans 8:29-39; 1 Peter 1:3-5; 1 John 5:13).

Prayer – We believe that each believer has direct access to God through the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Timothy 2:1-6; Hebrews 4:14-16).

Church – We believe that the church is a local body of believers with the Lord Jesus Christ as their Head (1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 1:22-23; Colossians 1:18).

Ordinances – We believe that Jesus Christ gave the local church two ordinances, water baptism and the Lord’s Supper, that do not impart grace, but recognize publicly the work of grace in the salvation of believers. Water baptism by immersion symbolically recognizes that the person has already been forgiven of sin and has been given spiritual life. The observation of the Lord’s Supper by partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine is a memorial of Christ’s death and His imminent return (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:41-42; 1 Corinthians 11:23-34).

Human Sexuality – We believe that intimate sexual activity is a gift from God that is designed to be enjoyed only within a marriage relationship consisting of one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24; Leviticus 18; Proverbs 5:15-20; Romans 1:26-29; 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8; Hebrews 13:4).

The Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our faith. The Bible itself is the sole and final source of all that we believe. We do believe, however, that the foregoing Statement of Faith accurately represents the teaching of the Bible and, therefore, is binding upon all members. All literature used, and all teaching in the church shall be in complete agreement with the essential beliefs of our Statement of Faith and under the guidance and supervision of the elder team.
